The City of Racine recently competed with over 100 communities across Canada, Mexico, and the United States to earn a 2019 North American Smart Cities designation, becoming the first Wisconsin municipality and the smallest city ever to be awarded that honor. But, what is a Smart City? How can it help residents, entrepreneurs, and established businesses compete more effectively in an increasingly digital economy? How can a Smart City leverage its digital infrastructure and other technology to improve the quality of life and economic growth? How can a Smart City and its partners ignite and finance future innovation for digital government and private-sector start-ups?
The City of Racine—long known as “Invention City” in recognition of the ingenuity of its people and innovative products of its businesses—invites business executives, nonprofit leaders, residents, and government officials to participate in its Smart Cities September Series.
