Michael Brock is a Computer Science Education Activist, Social Impact Entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Dream Hustle Code.
Brock’s MISSION is to leverage his years of experience in the areas of business, community activism, politics, fundraising and education to ensure that kids from under-served and under-represented communities receive a fair and equitable shot at learning Computer Science. He believes that neither America nor its communities can truly thrive if this generation of children are not educated and thoroughly prepared to compete on the global stage in the new global Tech economy.
Brock’s efforts in the Computer Science Education space include the following;
- Facilitated numerous “Free” Code.org Intro to Computer Science “Hour of Code” Programs (Illinois, Wisconsin)
- Produced a “Free” Summer Coding Camp for kids from communities under-represented in Technology. (Chicago)
- Facilitated “Free” Teacher Training workshops, through Code.org, that taught strategies on incorporating Computer Science into existing Core Curriculum
- Co-Creator of the Visionscape Silicon Valley Tour that recently took a group of kids from Racine & Chicago to Silicon Valley and L.A. to visit various Tech companies, speak to CS Engineers that look like them… and help set the stage for this group of kids to get a bigger vision for their future.
Brock holds a Master’s Degree in Education with a focus in English (Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University). He also began coursework toward a PhD in Public Policy with a focus in Education (University of Illinois at Chicago) prior to joining his family’s General Contracting firm (17 years) then pursuing his own entrepreneurial ventures.
Brock is the father of three amazing human beings and has been married to his lovely wife and Dream Hustle Code Co-Founder, Dulcevita, for fifteen years…and counting.
